Being Intentional

I love the two-fold purpose for our being here at The Haft. While we essentially came here for Dutch & I to “give” a year of service, specifically to the refreshing & rebuilding of this place structurally; we are also here to “be” refreshed & retooled ourselves. Sometimes leaving the comforts of home is the first step you need to take to get a fresh look at life, & God, & everyone & every thing going on around you. We’ve had the privilege, over the past few months, of meeting new people, & Dutch and I both agree that the world is BIG & we KNOW VERY LITTLE. So our horizons have been broadened. We have also become aware that things do not “just happen” & we should not live our lives believing that they do. We need a plan of action, a purpose, & we must be intentional in every area of our lives. Being intentional means that you can’t just sit around & wait for opportunities to serve, reach out & minister; but instead you need to seize those opportunities. Every person (garage repair man, waitress, cashier, neighbor), whoever it may be, IS AN OPPURTUNITY- don’t miss it!! And we didn’t have to come to The Haft to learn this, but sometimes we have to get off the “fast track” & refocus where we’re heading because we get busy with “Life” & we quickly forget the great commission & purpose of our being on this earth. Pastor Scot said in his message today that what we “focus” on is where we’re going to head. I agree completely!!
